Molecular mechanism for genetic recombination.

چکیده
Symmetry considerations of proteinnucleic acid interaction suggest the existence of an alternate branched configuration for DNA induced by binding specific structural proteins to symmetrically arranged polynucleotide base sequences. The concept that such sequences exist at the ends of genes or operons leads to a molecular model for genetic recombination in eukaryotic cells.

O-36: Genome Haplotyping and Detection of Meiotic Homologous Recombination Sites in Single Cells, A Generic Method for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis
Background: Haplotyping is invaluable not only to identify genetic variants underlying a disease or trait, but also to study evolution and population history as well as meiotic and mitotic recombination processes. Current genome-wide haplotyping methods rely on genomic DNA that is extracted from a large number of cells. Thus far random allele drop out and preferential amplification artifacts of...
متن کاملHomologous Recombination as a Replication Fork Escort: Fork-Protection and Recovery
Homologous recombination is a universal mechanism that allows DNA repair and ensures the efficiency of DNA replication. The substrate initiating the process of homologous recombination is a single-stranded DNA that promotes a strand exchange reaction resulting in a genetic exchange that promotes genetic diversity and DNA repair. The molecular mechanisms by which homologous recombination repairs...
متن کاملThe Major Sources of Genetic Differentiation Among Apricot Latent Virus (ApLV) Isolates
Background and Aims: Apricot latent virus (ApLV) is a species within Foveavirus genus (Betaflexiviridae family, Tymovirales order). Phylogenetic analyses using different ORFs nucleotide sequences divided most ApLV isolates into two clusters. However, there is little data about the sources of genetic differentiation among ApLV isolates. Materials and Methods: Partial coat protein (CP) sequences...
متن کاملMechanism of homologous recombination and implications for aging-related deletions in mitochondrial DNA.
Homologous recombination is a universal process, conserved from bacteriophage to human, which is important for the repair of double-strand DNA breaks. Recombination in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was documented more than 4 decades ago, but the underlying molecular mechanism has remained elusive. Recent studies have revealed the presence of a Rad52-type recombination system of bacteriophage origin...
متن کاملBayesian recombination detection modeling and application
As a key evolutionary process, recombination shapes the genetic structure of virus populations. The increased availability of virus sequences provides a chance to study virus recombination through molecular data. Many statistical methods have been developed, and a lot of the methods are phylogenetic-based. My research focuses on recombination modeling and data analysis. I first apply an existin...
